Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly has reflected on hitting ‘rock bottom’ with her drinking as she celebrated being two years sober.

The 22-year-old had only been allowed to drink legally for a couple of years before she decided to give up alcohol, knowing at the time she was ‘at her lowest’ and recognising later that ‘alcohol and antidepressants do not mix well at all’.

Holly decided to stop drinking because it ‘wasn’t improving [her] mental health’, and though what followed was a year of ‘high highs and low lows’, she’s now celebrating her second alcohol-free year.

She celebrated the milestone with a statement on Instagram posted to mark two years since she last touched alcohol.

“Two years ago today I hit rock bottom, I was terrified,” the 22-year-old wrote.

“I certainly didn’t think I would be where I am today both physically and mentally. I’ve fought every day since to get to where I am today.”

Holly, who works as a podcast producer, went on to express her thanks to all of those who have given her their ‘support, encouragement and endless love’.

“I will continue to learn and grow every day. I feel lucky to be able to use my voice to raise awareness and break the stigma around mental health.

“Sending love to anyone who needs it today and always. One day at a time,” she concluded.

Holly’s post received hundreds of supportive and congratulatory messages, with followers saying they were ‘so proud’ of her achievement and describing her as an ‘inspiration’.

Her dad has previously been among those praising Holly’s efforts and dedication as he responded to a post marking her first year of sobriety to describe her as an ‘incredible young lady’.

“Words can’t explain enough how proud you make me feel love you so much, Dad,” Ramsay wrote.

Holly’s sister, Tilly, also commented: “So proud of you.”

The 22-year-old has previously explained that she won’t say her sobriety is ‘forever’, but assured it is ‘for now’.

“Living without alcohol has helped me feel better and more present both mentally and physically,” she wrote. “Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a year of high highs and low lows but I’m grateful I have myself the chance to work through them consciously rather mask my feelings (good and bad) with a drink.”

During an Instagram Q&A session in January, Holly said that while it can be ‘lonely not drinking, especially at this age’, giving up alcohol has made her feel ‘more present’ and ‘in control’.
