An overweight detective who took 76 days of sick leave a year has won £10,000 after her boss told her to quit drinking “gallons of Coca-Cola”.
Detective Constable Kerry Moth was told to take more responsibility for her diet by a higher ranked officer.
An employment tribunal ruled that she had been discriminated against on the grounds of disability. The tribunal in Exeter, Devon, heard that Detective Sergeant Daryl Marvelly said that if colleagues saw she was trying to lose weight they would have more respect for her.
